Confessions Of A Shopaholic.

2020

@Newcleus Design

'It's so good, I put my name on it!'

Aptly named ‘Confessions of A Shopaholic’, our window display installation for local shoe and bag brand Christy Ng features arms reaching out from the ceiling - celebrating the impulsive needs of The Lady Shopaholic in purchasing everything beautiful she desires.

This is a kinetic window display featuring floating letters moving across long strips of transparent acrylic, churned out by a vintage typewriter - to highlight the flexibility of customizing names on Christy Ng’s merchandise.

To express Christy Ng's distinctive brand position in imprinting personalized names on her merchandise, this dynamic and dramatic effect was created. To achieve this, Newcleus collaborated with local engineer Khayhen to prototype and construct a system of 3D-printed gears, a programmed Arduino board, and light sensors that were concealed beneath the typewriter in a sculptural coral platform. The display is completed with sculptural, vibrant podiums made of plywood and translucent acrylic sheets that create floating shelves for the display of products.

The strategic planning that went into this installation's design allowed for creative spinoffs and gave interior architects, engineers, and interaction designers a place to collaborate.
