Illuminating Nature’s Harmony at Gamuda Gardens

My Role - Lead Designer
Team Size - 10
2019

Drawing inspiration from the serene beauty of the lakes and the open sky, our aim was to craft an immersive artwork that captures the essence of ‘Komorebi,’ a Japanese term signifying the interplay of sunlight filtering through tree leaves.

We collaborated with local artisans and fabricators to personalize these 10mm thick acrylic components, shaping them through a process of thermoforming in high heat between two molds.

A total of 1,000 acrylic panels have been installed and concealed within the ceiling, suspended by steel rods and a structural design that ingeniously doubles as the staircase handrails.

The ripple effect was meticulously developed in-house, requiring several prototypes to achieve the desired level of impact.
